Advanced Leader Training- Aquatics

As Troop 368 is an adventure oriented scouting unit, our leadership focusses on maintaing and expanding our training certifications and credentials in order to provide our scouts a safe ,fun and educational experience. Outings such as white water rafting, canoeing and other water sports require certified trained leaders in Aquatics Supervision and Paddle Craft Safety. These trainings require the applicant to be aware of the safe swim methods of scouting and to be able to perform rescue and recovery in the event of a water related incident.

SUMMER 2011

Troop 368 has a busy summer!  With 15 new Boy Scouts joining since February, Troop 368 is ready to rock with a crew of 12 headed to Northern Tier, a 10 day High Adventure canoe trip trip the northern lakes of Minnesota and into Canada and a group of 20+ scouts headed to summer camp at our very own councel's Cherokee Scout Reservation. Come see why Troop 368 is Scouting at its finest in our area. We meet Mondays at 7PM year round except holidays at the old Alamance Fire House at 4107 Presbyterian Rd in Greensboro. We are directly behind the new Alamance Fire Department Station 54 at Alamance Church Rd and Presbyterian Rd

Leader Training CPR at Troop 368

On April 9th, 10 adult leaders with Troop 368 attended CPR Certification classes at the Old Fire House. Many of our leaders were updating existing certifications and several obtained their first ceritification with Infant, Child and Adult CPR and AED. Additionally several of our leaders were certified in Wilderness First Aid at our Council Training at Camp Woodfield on April 3rd. Be Prepared ! Our leaders maintain all BSA recommended training and several are certified instructors.

MAY- lets get ready for Summer!

May brings water safety as we prepare for a great canoe trip at Nothern Tier and all kinds aof fun in the water at summer camp at Cherokee!. Safe Swim Defense and Safety Afloat will combine with canoeing and swimming at Hagan Sea Base in May. Our programs will focus on gearing our guys up for safety in and on the water! Geoff Stagg and Mick Pace bring water safety in to action in May.Both are BSA Certified in Water Rescue and Geoff is a EMT. Troop 368 continues to bring the best resources to provide teh best experiences. Troop 368 Greensboro is chartered by Alamance Presbyterian Church. We meet every Monday except school holidays at 7PM in the oll Alamance Fire Station 54 at 4107 Presbyterian Rd Greensboro. Come see what Troop 368 is all about!

April- Emergency Preparedness & Fire Safety

Troop 368 is taking April by storm ! Our Scouts are learning Fire Safety and Emergency Preparedness from experts from Alamance Fire Department. Brian Forbis and Brad Benton Both EMT Firefighters in our community, are teaching these merit badges in the Old Fire House! What a great kickoff with over 35 scouts in attendance and several visitors. Our scouts are learning and earning their merit badges from the guys that put it all on the line for emergencies. Troop 368 is rocking with the best resources and the best scouts around. Troop 368 is chartered by Alamance Presbyterian Church and recieves tremendous support from the Alamance Fire Department. Troop 368 meets on Mondays at the old Alamance Fire Staion at 4107 Presbyterian Rd in Greensboro. Come on out and see what we are all about!

Fire House Rules!

How many scouts does it take to fill up a Fire House? We are making great use of the old Fire House 54! And we are thankful to Alamance Fire Department for allowing us to care for their great property. We will be scheduling a work day to thank and honor our community heroes! Look for more info in the next week or so.

Scouting For Food in Your Neighborhood

Troop 368 and Pack 368 are helping our community with a May Food Drive to help the Food Pantry and the Urban Ministry because hunger and need are with us year round. You can help by donating canned food or money to the Food Pantry at Alamance Presbyterian. Check APC link to the left !Scouts will also collect canned goods in May!

March Outing- Hiking or Rock Climbing? YES!

Troop 368 headed to Pisgah National Forest with a crew set for Rock Climbing and another headed out for and adventure around Buck Eye Knob! 11 scouts earn their Rock Climbing Merit Badge by our friends at Fox Mountain Guides and 13 climb over 1000 feet in elevation over 10 miles! Another "epic" set of adventures at Troop 368 Greensboro!
